Langton Matravers: War Memorial
"Lest We Forget"
The 11th November this year marked the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that finally brought a halt to the hostilities of the Great War. To mark this momentous centenary, a new War Memorial was unveiled in Langton Matravers on Remembrance Day. It followed a competition to design an appropriate memorial which was launched by Mr David Senior, a past Chairman of Governors at St George's CE VA School, and which was taken up with great enthusiasm by the school. The winning design was selected by the Diocese, and was then created from local Purbeck stone. The winning design was submitted by one of our KS2 pupils, who is seen proudly with her creation at its unveiling. Congratulations! Thank you to Mr Senior for such a wonderful initiative for the school and the village as a whole.
