Appointment of Permanent Headteacher
Following a rigorous election process supported by the Local Authority and the Diocese of Salisbury, the Governors of St George’s CE VA Primary School in Langton Matravers are delighted to confirm the appointment of Mrs Katy Astle as Headteacher, following the last academic year through which she led the school as Acting Headteacher.
Mrs Astle lives in Swanage with her husband, young son and dog and joined St George’s in April 2021 as Deputy Headteacher and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo). She quickly assumed the role of Acting Headteacher at the start of the last academic year and has led the school with great skill, wisdom and calmness since.
Ofsted visited St George’s in July this year and noted that “the acting headteacher is having a positive impact”. They went on to say that “pupils enjoy attending this small, inclusive school. Everyone knows each other. This helps create a strong family feel and sense of togetherness.”
This came as no surprise to Governors, staff, pupils and parents, who are all delighted with Mrs Astle’s appointment, and we look forward to supporting her as she leads St Georges School to be the best village primary school in Swanage.
